Add Engineering Into Your Writing and Become an As engineers we solve problem all the daylong. One of the rules of thumb while solving problem is to have a systematic approach for each and everything.  During lunch I commented on someone’s questions in digitalpoint about “How to Write Better” as a blogger. And I wanted to share how we also can simplify content writing process through creating a simple writing approach.  While solving problem we ask ourselves the following 5 questions (could be more but at least) which you can also ask yourselves as well before writing you nest blog post. And once you have asked enough questions then just answer them and “ka boom” you will have an excellent informative blog post.
  • What
  • How
  • Who
  • When
  • Why

Keep in mind that, you don’t have to use all the questions to write your post. Use the 5 questions as a guide or template and customize them at you own discretion. Lets take a look at this blog post as an example. The following was my brainstorming session.

  • What happened: I found a post in digitalpoint where one of our fellow blogger asking for tips of being an effective blogger
  • How am I  answering my topic: Everyone asks everyone else to read/write and practice but no one thinks different, and I wanted to share how quickly anyone can be an effective blogger/writer.
  • Who was the cause of my topic: My topic blogger is blogging for a long time but still not getting any good result and was looking for improvement
  • When: Not a relevant question for this topic.
  • Why am I writing this post: I wrote this blog post because of two main reasons. First I wanted to show how we could have a systematic technical approach for good contents. And the second is to introduce systematic approach mind set for my fellow bloggers.

Now, if you really think about it, you can ask a handful of question in less then 1 minute, which proves what I have said in my title. And just by answering the above questions anyone into your blog posts you became an above average blogger (effective as well) with due respect to others. To refresh your memory average blogging is the writing style of a high school (8th-10th grade) level, which is the dominant blogging style for majority of the blogs. And high schools kids do not like engineers. Before you go, if you write any of your blog posts using the structure above then make sure to share that with us.
